E&DCL Women's Cricket Program Looking For New Players...

The EDCL runs a women's cricket program and is actively recruiting women who wish to learn the skills of the game. This year we are looking forward to games with Calgary, West Vancouver, Chiliwack, and the Wicket Maidens in Victoria. We will also have more games with ASCA Juniors. Everyone from beginners to those with experience of the game are welcome to attend indoor nets in March and April. Our outdoor practice schedule will be at Coronation Park starting in May.

Admininstration and Statistics Tasks

To All Clubs,

Registration of NEW players:

Our league is growing at very fast pace and new players are being registered with the clubs almost every day. It’s is getting really hard to track all individual players. Therefore we will be using E&DCL website (www.cricketedmonton.ca) to track all the players.

Alberta Sports Hall of Fame

At the end of November 2010 the Red Deer Sports hall of fame opened its first exhibit on Cricket. Thanks to many private donations of artifacts and records the staff of the museum, and in particular Tanya Read, compiled a very attractive account to introduce cricket into its rightful spot in the museum. Tanya would liked to have made a larger exhibit and many of the collected items could not be incorporated into this first display. However, it's a great start and I hope all cricketers will take a look on their way past the museum which sits right on the highway heading north to Edmonton.

Online Level 1 Umpiring training program

It is time for us to commence another season of online umpire training course. The program hitherto has proved remarkably successful as the result of its practicality, methodology  and convenience. The spring course is set aside for candidates preparing to write Cricket Canada's L1 examination. Over the past year, comprehensive training was provided for L2 and, most recently, L3 for Mr. Kad.

Elites A Emerge Victorious in Premiere Div Championship!

The Premier Division playoffs started on Sept 19, 2009 with Elites A CC (2) taking on Millwoods A CC (3) in the Semi Finals. A close encounter was expected between the two teams since both the matches played this season went down to the wire. Elites captain, Adnan Kamal won the toss and decided to bat first. His team reprised their faith in his decision by putting on a total of 248. Highlights from the inning included a quick fire 45 from Kaizar Abdulali at the top of the order and a rock solid 52 from Ahzum Ali. Millwoods started out well in the first couple of overs but kept losing wickets regularly and folded out for 120. Elites A CC would now face Gujarat CC in the finals of the Premier Division in what would be a rematch of last years finals.
